Elementary ELA/ELD Instructional Materials Pilot

Instructional Materials Decision Reached

Through a collaborative, five month pilot process, involving approximately 45 Kindergarten through Grade 6 teachers, it has been determined that K-6 READING WONDERS by McGraw Hill is the comprehensive set of K-6 ELA/ELD Instructional Materials that will best meet the needs of Newport-Mesa USD students and teachers.  At the May 23rd School Board meeting, staff will report on the pilot process and the resulting recommendation of K-6 Reading Wonders as our core ELA/ELD instructional materials for all elementary classrooms.  As a next step, members of the pilot team and Education Services will meet to discuss effective implementation and roll out. The recommended materials will be on display for public review in the Sanborn Building at the Education Center beginning May 24th through June 13, 2017.

A recommendation for final approval will go forward to the Board of Education on June 13, 2017.
