Student and Community Services

The Student and Community Services Department strives to provide the best educational opportunities for all of our students and staff within the Newport-Mesa Unified School District.  Some of the many programs that we offer are as follows: Restorative Practices, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, Truancy Resolutions, Community School and Alternative Education Referrals, Mental Health, Bullying Prevention and Intervention, Substance Use Prevention and Intervention, Homeless Education/ Foster Youth Services, and other services.

Our goal is to provide a safe and viable learning environment for all students within our District.

Other Services

Inter-District Transfer Requests for 2020-21 

In response to social distancing guidelines, NMUSD will only be processing these requests via email.

Inter-District Transfer requests to attend another district:

  • Complete the Inter-District Transfer Request 
  • Ensure that all fields are answered and signature and initials are included
  • Email the completed form to Student Services at ramezcua@nmusd.us
  • You will receive a response within 48 hours
  • If you are unable to complete the process electronically, please email ramezua@nmusd.us or leave a detailed message at        (714) 424-5016 and we will send you the form via US postal mail.

Inter-District Transfers requests to attend NMUSD should be emailed to: scoley@nmusd.us. Responses will be issued in writing within 48 hours.

Community Home Education Program (CHEP)

Please read below for adjustments to this process in response to social distancing guidelines.

  • Address Verification will still be required for all Community School Referral requests for CHEP enrollment
  • Contact the NMUSD Address Verification office at (949) 515-6743 for information on verifying our address requirement. All offices are operating remotely, so please leave a detailed voice message and they will return the call promptly
  • Once you have received your Confirmation page (Goldenrod sheet), email it along with the completed Community School Referral to Student Services at ramezcua@nmusd.us
  • You will receive a response within 48 hours
  • Visit the Orange County Department of Education’s CHEP page for forms such as Community School Referral.
