Students must have parent authorization on file with the school before Office 365 accounts are created. If you did not authorize an Office 365 account for your child, please contact your school's office staff for assistance.

Online usernames and passwords have been synchronized with Newport-Mesa’s student and staff network logins, so it will not be necessary to create another account. Staff Office 365 login will be your @nmusd.us email address and password; for students, the login will be their student ID. For example, if a student’s ID is 987654, then student’s Office 365 username would be 987654@nmusd.us.

Access Office 365 Online.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Microsoft Office 365?

Microsoft Office 365 is a subscription-based office software and services suite hosted online in the cloud which offers access to various services and software built around the Microsoft Office platform.

What is the cloud?

"The cloud" can simply be described as a metaphor for the Internet. Applications and services hosted in the cloud are all accessible via the Internet and the data stored is held in a remote location. As such, cloud based applications and services can be accessed from anywhere in the world from a multitude of devices such as desktop computers, laptops, tablets and other mobile devices.

What are the primary benefits of Office 365?

Office 365 allows end users to access their documents and files from anywhere in the world and on virtually any device. Moving to a new cloud-based system will enable NMUSD employees to have a wider range of functionality while saving a significant amount of operational expense.

How is Office 365 different from Microsoft Office?

"Office 365" refers to subscription plans that include access to Office applications plus other productivity services that are enabled over the Internet (cloud services), such as Delve or Sway and online storage with OneDrive.

"Microsoft Office" is the name Microsoft still uses for their productivity software. Office suites have traditionally included applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. All the new Microsoft Office suites include the latest versions of these applications. These suites can be installed on only one PC and may not come with any cloud -based services included in Office 365.

What is OneDrive?

OneDrive provides storage in "the cloud" so that you can keep and share all of your documents, photos and videos even if something happens to your computer or device. OneDrive works with Microsoft Office and also can be accessed across different devices. OneDrive provides unlimited personal cloud storage, meaning, you don't have to worry about running out of space! A common use of OneDrive at schools is for storage of important files, assignments, and lesson plans. It can also be used as a way to collaborate with students, allowing them to "share" assignments with you rather than turning in a hard copy.

What happens when I am no longer employed or student at Newport-Mesa USD?

Your NMUSD Office 365 subscription ends when your child leaves the district/school or your employment terminates. You may enroll into other consumer or commercial offers available at that time, and maintain your cloud documents. You should make sure to transfer any personal files from your district/school OneDrive to your personal OneDrive prior to leaving the district.
