Fencing

One of our District Priorities is to educate students in safe, modern facilities that support our educational program. See below for a glimpse of our efforts toward this priority:

  • Various Schools – Fencing

In the past few years our district began the process of installing fencing at our schools as an added security measure. Three additional schools are slated for fencing installation in summer of 2018 - Mariners, Newport Heights, and Wilson Elementary. Community meetings were hosted at each school in January, with the projects currently in the final design phase.

Corona del Mar (CdM) High School:

  • Learning Resource Center (LRC) - Construction on the conversion of the school library into a modern LRC is making progress with a grand opening event scheduled for March 14, 2018 – CdM LRC Ribbon-Cutting Invite (link to invite). The LRC includes an open floor plan with collaborative and computer spaces. It also includes three study rooms and a small conference room. This project was made possible by the CdM Foundation’s commitment to raise funds for the project.

  • Sports Fields – The sports field project at CdM, which includes upgrades to two fields, is making progress and is currently in the design phase, with construction anticipated to begin in 2019. Upgrades include two new synthetic turf fields, one rubber track, sports lighting, and spectator seating replacement.

Estancia High School:

  • Pool - Installation of a 50 meter pool has been delayed due to unexpectedly high construction bids. Staff is preparing to award a design-build contract prior to summer 2018. The opening of the new pool is expected by the start of the 2019/20 school year.

Ensign Intermediate School

  • Gymnasium Repairs - As a result of a fire from Fall 2016, we continue to work on repairs to the gymnasium. The girls locker room is currently being renovated and will be completed by the end of this school year. Work in the boys locker room is expected to be completed in summer 2018, with both locker rooms expected to be complete by the start of the 2018/19 school year.
