Business and Industry Partners

Newport-Mesa Unified School District and the College and Career department value local partnerships with business and industry. This collaboration is important to prepare our students, and your future workforce, with the required skills and knowledge for high-wage careers meeting regional labor market needs. This partnership can take many forms:

Become an advisory committee member - Participate on a career technical education (CTE) district-wide or industry specific advisory council to share critical insights and review curriculum. Offer work-based learning - Engage and inspire students by offering various levels of work-based learning experiences such as guest speaking, field trips, job shadowing, internships, and pre-apprenticeships.
Be a resource - Participate in a career fair, donate equipment and instructional materials, sponsor a student scholarship, and provide a teacher externship to keep them current in the field.
Hire students - Tap into our source of trained and eager students!

EHS interns at Overair — Former students who completed the Engineering Design Pathway at Estancia High School participated in a summer internship with Overair before they headed off to college.

Vital Link is the link between business and education to prepare students for the successful transition to a meaningful career. DECA meets Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris N — NHHS's Business Management Pathway students participate in the Career Technical Student Organization DECA. They met with Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris.

LA Memorial Coliseum Field Trip — Students from Newport Harbor High School's Production and Managerial Arts Pathway take a field trip to the LA Coliseum.

Students meet CARE employees — Students enrolled in the Patient Care Pathway meet with CARE employees to learn more about their career and experience the industry-standard supplies and equipment used to save lives everyday!

Robotics Engineer Guest Speaker — Students enrolled in the Engineering Design pathway learned from a robotics application engineer from Archytas about her career path and industrial robotics automation with a hands-on demonstration with the Archytas robotic arm.

Teacher externship at Overair — CTE Teacher, Racine Cross, spent time over her summer to learn from industry to keep her knowledge and curriculum relevant to ensure students are learning the latest developments.

Quantum computing guest speaker — A student enrolled in Python Programming at Corona del Mar High School participates in a lab after learning from a guest speaker about quantum computing.
